Criminal BackgroundMake Informed Hiring Decisions with VerifyProtect’s Expert Criminal Background Checks
When you choose to hire a new employee, you’re making a large investment. Not only are you spending the money to train and onboard the worker, but you’re utilizing a lot of company resources (particularly from HR) in the process.
It only makes sense, then, that you want to make sure you’re making the right choice when it comes to hiring. This is where we come in; we provide detailed pre-employment background screenings, including criminal background checks, for new hires.
Why Criminal Background Checks Matter
One of your main priorities should be to maintain a safe and comfortable work environment for all of your employees. However, when you bring in a new worker without a criminal background screening, you have no way of knowing what type of person you’re hiring. You could even unknowingly expose your own workers to an extremely dangerous situation or put your company’s growth at risk.
By being aware of any previous criminal charges or convictions on an applicant’s record, you can make the right choices during your next hiring process and keep your workplace safe in the process.

County and Statewide Screening
Our criminal background checks begin with a thorough county and statewide search. Specifically, we’ll screen for both misdemeanor and felony convictions from at least the past seven years within the county given. Depending on the state in which your business resides, our statewide search will also reveal felonies and misdemeanors at the state level, and may even include reports of outstanding warrants and cases from other states.
Access to Multi-State Database
Of course, if you want added peace of mind in your new-hire decision, you want to be aware not only of a prospective employee’s local criminal history, but any possible convictions from other states within the country as well.
No worries; we have access to a large multi-state crime database that includes more than 300 million criminal records across all 50 states, along with some international records reporting. This screening also includes a search through our sex offender database with more than 3.5 millions pictures on-file.
Federal Criminal Screening
Some of the most serious criminal convictions out there are at the federal level, and may not show up in a county or even statewide search. Examples of some of these more serious crimes include:
- Embezzlement
- Drug trafficking
- Fraud
